Bean and seed mosaic

A perfect and easy activity to do with kids

Oliver, Emily and I prepared this workshop for an Italian printed collection about the Montessori method: Gioca e Impara con il Metodo Montessori curated by Grazia Honegger Fresco and published by Il Corriere della Sera and La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The workshop was inspired by the gorgeous snails and butterflies by Woodlark®: Ashley was so kind as to let us use her idea (you can find templates at the link provided), so please visit her blog to find more beautiful activities that combine sensory experience with eco-friendly art. Also, I highly reccomend you follow her on instagram.

Instead of butterflies and snails, we drew and cut out of thick cardboard a hedgehog and a squirrel, and decorated them by glueing different types of beans and seeds on them — any animal that has a good surface to cover (like a squirrel's tail or the hedgehog's squills) works fine.

Our end result… the kids also wanted to make a turtle and a maple leaf :-)
