Around Christmas time. We walk into a shop and as soon as my kids display a slightly “inappropriate” behavior—louder voice, complaining about something we can’t buy—the salesperson says:⁣
"You are good for mommy, right? So Santa will bring you presents for Christmas!”.⁣
I say:⁣
"There are no bad kids, sometimes children struggle, just like all of us. Isn’t that right, Oliver and Emily?”.⁣
I talk to my children and smile, but my voice is loud enough so the salesperson can hear me.⁣
Whether or not Santa is part of each family’s Christmas tradition is a personal choice. This idea of good/bad children, on the other hand, is an antiquated common mentality that need to be eradicated.⁣
