Do you apologize to your kids when you yell or say things you don't like? If I can't do it right away because I’m not ready, I wait for a moment of calm (maybe in bed before going to sleep): “Do you remember today when I said X? I said it out of habit, but I don't like saying it, I‘m sorry. Next time, I'll try harder”.⁣
Ps. It doesn't matter who's "to blame". It doesn't matter if my kid upset me. If I lose my cool, I’m in the wrong because I don't know how to control my emotions. So I should put aside my pride and apologize first. For me, this too is educating by example, for the long term.⁣
