When I have a bad day, the kinder people are to me, the better I manage to keep my anger in check. Does it happen to you too?
Well, it’s exactly the same for our kids. When they struggle, their ability to keep their emotions at bay is directly linked to our ability to welcome and understand them. If we’re kind to them, if we welcome their struggle and their mood, they will control their emotions better, or at least they’ll have the opportunity to learn. If we lose our cool, they’ll reflect our emotion and learn to lose their cool when they struggle.
When your child struggles, cries, yells and hits, that’s when they most need your calm.
