Sense of time for children is a difficult concept because up to the age of 6 their brain is not able to abstract. But waiting is a skill you can practice (like the kids in the photo)!
This super easy calendar (️) has always been my method to help Oliver and Emily understand how many days are left to an event (birthday, my return from a journey...):
- I draw on a paper sheet as many circles as the days that Oliver and Emily have to wait.
- I stick our "calendar" onto the fridge.
- Every morning they color in a circle.
On the blog I’ll explain our calendars in the photos and I’ll give suggestions on what NOT to do: latela.com/calendar .
